Description

Welcome to high school Art Camp! All levels, no previous experience required!

These camps run by the week from June 15 to July 2 (no camp on June 19 or July 3), from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm each day. You can sign up your student for all three weeks of art camp because the medium is different each week!

Week 1 PAINTING (June 15-18): Students will explore acrylic, watercolor, and gouache through guided projects and skill-building exercises. Emphasis will be placed on color mixing, layering, and composition, while experimenting with mark-making and texture. Students will also learn how to incorporate collage and mixed materials into their paintings to build depth and visual interest.

Week 2 SCULPTURE (June 22-26)This course focuses on three-dimensional thinking and building in the round. Students will work with clay, cardboard, wire, and found materials to create sculptural forms and assemblage works. Projects will emphasize structure, balance, form, and craftsmanship, encouraging students to problem-solve and experiment with materials.

Week 3 PRINTMAKING (June 29-July 2)Students will explore a variety of printmaking techniques, including linocut printmaking, stencil printing, and monotype. Emphasis will be placed on image development, layering, and repetition, as well as understanding positive and negative space. Students will print on both paper and fabric.

These camps are taught by the incredibly talented Mrs. Adams. Her approach to teaching brings out the best in students with positivity, inspiration, creativity and the joy of learning. Mrs. Adams currently teaches Yearbook, AP 2D, Sculpture and Media Design at El Segundo High School and the after-school Yearbook class at El Segundo Middle School.

Please enroll your student in the grade they will be in the fall of 2026.

All art supplies are included in the registration cost.

SUPPORT THE CAMP THAT SUPPORTS YOUR SCHOOL! Our camps are taught by ESUSD teachers or Ed! associates, so your enrollment supports local teachers and community members. All profits go directly back to ESUSD through the grant Ed! pays to the district. Assisting the teachers are motivated ESHS high school students who are working to get an internship on their high school transcript. Our program is a win on so many levels!

ACCOMMODATIONS:
The Academy is not part of the El Segundo Unified School District (ESUSD) and therefore cannot offer accommodations or special resources that your student receives from the district during the school year. If your student requires special accommodations, to avoid a cancellation fee, please get in touch with us at [email protected] to discuss before enrolling in a camp.

If you would like to provide an aide to support your student, please allow enough time for the aide to be cleared by ESUSD Human Resources, which requires the aide to be fingerprinted and background-checked.

The charge on your credit card will be from the El Segundo Education Foundation!

We sometimes take photos/videos for promotional purposes. To opt out, please email [email protected] with the participant's name, class they are taking and dates of the class.
