Yearbook...Write, Design and Photograph! COST PRORATED FOR 12 CLASSES!!
Students taking this class will create the ESMS 26-27 Yearbook. Under the guidance of ESHS teacher Nicole Adams, students will learn to use Josten's publishing program Layout Pro, learn to meet strict deadlines, work with text (copy), manipulate graphics, take photographs, and participate in the team's creative process. The class will focus on understanding and designing for a target audience while developing creativity through a variety of two-dimensional media. Yearbook production supports student’s development as writers, photographers, editors, independent users of technology and as responsible contributing members of the El Segundo Middle School community. Students in the class will receive a free yearbook.
Class Requirements: Being a member of the yearbook staff requires a significant time commitment and a high level of responsibility. Students will be asked to take photographs of student life, school events, and school sports using a phone or camera. Students may also be expected to complete work at home when necessary to meet deadlines or finish assignments that were not completed in class.
Students must feel comfortable approaching and communicating with their peers, including students they may not know, to conduct interviews and gather information for their assigned pages. The yearbook staff is responsible for creating a product that documents and tells the story of the entire school year. This is a significant responsibility, and students who sign up for the class should be reliable, attend class consistently, meet deadlines, and be willing to complete all assigned responsibilities and contribute to the team.
Class Meeting Time/Dates: In addition to the requirements above, students will meet with Mrs. Adams from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm on the 13 Tuesdays immediately below. (The "Class Dates" section below is NOT correct.) Location: El Segundo Middle School (room TBD).
