Model UN @ ESHS

The Academy is thrilled to continue the Model United Nations after-school class! MUN is a year-long class, and participants are expected to enroll in both semesters. 

Please only register if you have received an acceptance from Ms. Strawn or if you are enrolled in the MUN class at ESMS! Please do not register if you have not been accepted into this program - your enrollment will be cancelled and you will incur a nonrefundable $50 cancellation fee.

~ Entry into this class is by an application process that ends 8/31/26. To apply, please submit a letter of interest (300 words max) to Ms. Strawn or Mr. Luna via email by August 31, 2026. Acceptances will be announced by September 4, 2026. April Strawn at [email protected] or Al Luna at [email protected]. The first class meeting is 9/14/26.

~ This conference-focused class is open to 8th graders enrolled in Mr. Luna's MUN class at ESMS.

~ MUN is a competitive, collaborative class that focuses on research, writing, and public speaking. Participants will meet throughout the year for team-building, speaking practice, and competition prep.

~ Model United Nations (MUN) is a year-long, high-time-commitment class. While consistent attendance is ideal, we understand that sports and other activities may interfere. When absent, please check in on the daily agenda through Google Classroom and communicate! 

~ Class Meeting Schedule in the ESHS Library: September-December > Mondays & Wednesdays 4-5 pm; January-May > Wednesdays 4-5 pm, with the following caveats: no meetings on minimum Mondays at ESHS throughout the year; after Conference weekends, you will meet only on Wednesday the following week; no class meeting when the school schedule does not allow, including but not limited to the following:

Spring Break: April 5-9
AP Exams: May 3-14

~ Participants work towards the 8 conferences listed below, but these are subject to change because the conference dates are not announced until a couple of months before the event. Our current conference calendar is based on the dates these conferences usually fall. No refunds will be given for unattended conferences. Participant must arrange their transportation to the conferences.

~ The cost of this program is $998, with $499 due by 9/11/26 and $499 due by 1/15/2027. Cost includes all conference fees. The cost is divided into semesters to make it easier, but please email [email protected] if you would like a payment plan.
