Description

Welcome to ScratchTracks: Coding Games, Crafting Soundscapes, an exciting new camp where your student can create their own video game and share it with their friends and family!

Embark on a thrilling journey of creativity and innovation with our summer school class, ScratchTracks: Coding Games, Crafting Soundscapes. This dynamic program, tailored for students in grades 4-6, invites participants of all experience levels to explore the exciting realms of coding, game design, and music composition. In this immersive class, students will not only learn the fundamentals of coding using Scratch but will also dive into the world of music creation with Garageband. Whether your child is a coding enthusiast, a budding musician, or a creative explorer, this adventure promises a summer of discovery, innovation, and the joy of bringing their unique video game visions to life. Join us for a summer filled with coding, music, and endless possibilities!

Teaching this camp is Rebecca Wright, Music teacher at CSS and Joy Pamphile, 5th grade teacher at CSS.

This half-day camp is for students who will be entering grades 4-6 for the 2025-26 school year. If you think your rising 3rd grader could keep up in this class, you may register them. Please enroll your student in the grade they will be in the fall of 2025.

This is a one week camp (July 7-11 and/or July 14-18). Students may sign up for one week or both weeks to more develop their video game or create a whole new one. Students will work in groups to create their video game.

Does your student want to stay the full day? Great because we have Afternoon Summer Fun from  12:30 pm to 5:00 pm for all five weeks of camp! The participants will enjoy 4 ½ hours of unstructured fun, both indoors and out, under the supervision of ESUSD personnel. Be sure to add this option to this registration.

SUPPORT THE CAMP THAT SUPPORTS YOUR SCHOOL! Our camps are taught by ESUSD teachers or Ed! associates, so your enrollment supports local teachers and community members. All profits go directly back to ESUSD through the grant Ed! pays to the district. Assisting the teachers are motivated ESHS high school students who are working to get an internship on their high school transcript. Our program is a win on so many levels!

FYI: The charge on your credit card will be from the El Segundo Education Foundation! We sometimes take photos/videos for promotional purposes. To opt out, please email [email protected] with the participant's name, class they are taking and dates of the class.
