Description

What is Model United Nations?

Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform an ambassador role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more! This program culminates with a conference where delegate teams debate other middle school programs in Southern CA.

Why should your student participate in MUN?
Students develop confidence and leadership skills through experience. 
MUN helps students develop public speaking, writing, collaboration, diplomacy and research skills. 
MUN provide students with their first entry point into international affairs and concepts, such as peace and security, human rights, development, and rule of law issues.
Model UN conferences allow you to practice teamwork, negotiation, and communication skills in a safe and structured environment.
What you learn in MUN helps you to gain self confidence and composure, which are invaluable in academic and professional settings,

Program Details:

This class is for 8th graders only.

Tuesdays beginning 9/2 from 3:00p.m. - 4:00p.m. @ ESMS. No class on 9/23, 11/11 or 11/25.

Includes one additional 3 hour MUN conference preparation boot camp on Saturday 12/6. Times TBA.

Please Note:  The one-day delegate conference will be held all day on Sunday 12/7 in Whittier, CA. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the conference in Whittier.
