Description

The Academy is thrilled to offer Model United Nations as an after-school class! Please only register if you have received an acceptance from Ms. Strawn! Please do not register if you have not been accepted into this program - your enrollment will be cancelled and you will incur a nonrefundable $50 cancellation fee.

Details:
~ The teacher/coach for MUN is the wonderful April Strawn.
~ Entry into this class is by application process and two recommendations are required.
~ Class runs on both Mondays and Wednesdays starting 9/24/2025 from 4:00 to 5:00 until 4/22/2026 except for when school is not in session.
~ This class works towards 2-4 conferences. Date and times TBA in class.
~ Do not apply for this class if you are not able to attend at least two conferences. 
~ Cost of this program is $900, with $450 due upon registration and $450 due 1/15/2026. Cost includes all conference fees. Please email [email protected] for a payment plan if needed.

What is Model UN?
Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations where students act as delegates to the UN and its committees. MUN is a popular extracurricular activity for students at all levels of education, and it helps students learn about the UN, international relations, and current world issues.
Does Model UN look good on your college application?
Absolutely! Every student needs their college application and/or job application to stand out and MUN will do that!
Why should you participate in MUN?
Students develop confidence and leadership skills through experience. 
MUN helps students develop public speaking, writing, collaboration, diplomacy and research skills. 
Provide students with their first entry point into international affairs and concepts, such as peace and security, human rights, development, and rule of law issues.
Model UN conferences allow you to practice teamwork, negotiation, and communication skills in a safe and structured environment.
What you learn in MUN helps you to gain self confidence and composure, which are invaluable in academic and professional settings,
