Art journey - exploring new materials and techniques to draw, paint and print!
This camp will run for one week, June 10-June 14, with ESMS Art Teacher, Insa Kasai! Join Mrs. Kasai for an exciting, hands on Art Journey exploring the following themes and mediums:
Day 1: getting to know each other - community mural; bubbles (colored pencil on black paper);outer space (chalk pastels on black paper);crystals (permanent marker, watercolor and salt)
Day 2: flowers close up (mixed media); trees (watercolor and crayon resist)
Day 3: pet portraits (tempera paint); surrealist chimera (paper collage)
Day 4: human eye (pencil drawing); self-portrait (Sharpie on acrylic acetate and abstract paint background)
Day 5: open printing studio with a variety of techniques to try out: cyanotype sun prints, foam prints, symmetrical bug prints
Visual references and examples will help direct your budding artist. All art supplies are covered in the registration price. This will be a very popular camp with limited enrollment, so to avoid disappointment, book now!
This camp is for students who will be entering 4th and 5th grade in the 2024-25 school year. Please enroll your student in the grade they will be in the fall.
NEW this year - full day option available! Available to campers and non-campers to attend, “Afternoon Summer Fun” will run from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm June 10 to July 5 (four weeks!)! The (participants will enjoy 4 ½ hours of unstructured fun, both indoors and out, under the supervision of ESUSD personnel. Be sure to add this option to your Cooking Academy registration. Great for busy families! Great for kids who want to have fun! Great for the future of ESUSD!
Our camps are taught by ESUSD teachers so your enrollment supports local teachers. All profits go directly back to ESUSD through the grant Ed! pays to the district. Assisting the teachers are motivated ESUSD high school students who are working to get an internship on their high school transcript. Our program is a win on so many levels!
