POP-UP PERK FOR MS STUDENTS OF SUPERINTENDENT'S ROUNDTABLE MEMBERS!!

 

We are very excited to offer an introductory two-hour financial literacy seminar : PIGGY BANK BASICS!

 

This seminar is only for the children or grandchildren of SR Members.

 

DETAILS:
Grades: 6th-8th
Location: ESMS, room to be announced a day or two before the seminar
Time: 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Date: Thursday, May 15

The presentation will touch on key money themes including:
  • The reality of cost of living, income & taxes, and how budgeting can help us live within our means.
  • The basics of credit, credit scores, loans, interest rates and debt.
  • Consumerism, spending and the difference between wants vs. needs, and possessions vs. net worth.
  • Making the connection between today’s money habits and future financial health.

Students are provided with information, tools and a little motivation to help them take ownership of their own money matters.

Piggy Bank Basics is a new class that The Academy will be offering in the fall to middle school students! This class will run over four weeks, from 3-4 pm, and cover the following subjects: Class One: What is financial literacy? Why is it important?; Class Two: Understanding & managing the costs of adulthood; Class Three: Borrowing, spending and saving money; Class Four: Planning for our financial futures.

Piggy Bank Basics is taught by Heather Davis, a Certified Financial Literacy Instructor. Ms. Davis is a member of the local Beachside chapter of National Charity League (NCL) and has provided introductory presentations on money matters for that chapter's middle and high school members.
